In the face of questions about whether prefabricated buildings can be earthquake-resistant, whether the cost is too high to really replace the cast-in-place system, and whether the development prospects can be long-term, Wang Tiehong, president of the China Construction Industry Association and former chief engineer of the Ministry of Housing and Construction, explained: Prefabricated buildings actually include various structural types of prefabricated forms, such as all-steel structure fully assembled for super high-rise buildings, reinforced concrete core tube + steel structure assembly for high-rise buildings, large volume and wide range of multi-storey small high-rise PC, etc., the above three different prefabricated buildings are based on the current standard specification system. Fully able to meet the seismic, wind resistance, fire protection and other requirements, the country has accumulated more than tens of thousands of buildings, tens of millions of square meters of successful demonstration.

The cost is too high, I am afraid that the industry's main concern for the development of prefabricated buildings. Zhang Jun, a professor of civil engineering at Tsinghua University, introduced that there is not much difference between prefabricated housing and cast-in-place concrete housing, and the feeling of the people is the same, but the amount of on-site support and reinforcement will be reduced. It has been proved that the outfitted construction can replace the cast-in-place system and can save the construction cost to a large extent.

As for some people worried about the development prospects of prefabricated buildings, in the view of the industry, as a major decision deployment of The State Council, the development of prefabricated buildings is an inevitable requirement for the new era to practice the concept of green development and improve the quality of urban development.
